Eddie placed the ad for a month and received more than 100 phone calls! The Red River Street Rod Association was soon formed and was meeting at the Holiday Inn on North Market Street. As they say “the rest is history”. We were the first street rod club formed in Louisiana and continue to be the longest running chartered Street Rod Club in the State of Louisiana.

The Club began having Rod Runs and Shows in 1973 and has held them continuously since then. The 36th will be coming up 10, 11 April 2009. Click on the 2009 Rod Run link for more information.

In 1975, Eddie and Ed Chopin, then Secretary, as well as other members, was instrumental in bringing the World Of Wheels car show to Shreveport. This event has been running continuously since then and continues to be one of the activities in which River Street Rod Association is involved.

Since then the Club has held various activities, including our annual Rod Run to help support various charitable activities in the Shreveport-Bossier area aimed at helping people. Our current target charity is the Percy Johnson Burn Foundation. One of the more enjoyable activities we do is to travel as a group to Rod Runs and Cruise Nights sponsored by ArkLaTex area Car Clubs.
